why does google chrome not work on my computer?
Every time I click on the chrome icon, it lights up and fades away after a few seconds and then it won't open. I do this 20 times and it doesn't open. Sometimes a window does open but a smaller window is in front of it that says "your preferences can not be read". I'll exit the smaller window and the larger one just doesn't load so I exit that too. Sometimes the window will open but as soon as I try to type in the web address, it freezes and a window that says that chrome is unresponsive shows up and asks me to either wait or close down chrome(I always pick close down because waiting never works.) Sometimes chrome opens and loads completely but later on, it'll freeze and I'll have to close it. Sometimes the only way I can get chrome to open is to keep repeatedly clicking it non-stop, really fast, until at least 5 working windows open lol. Anyway, I thought the problem could be the fact that I had a lot of other programs on my computer, and since I don't need/use those programs, I deleted them, but that seemed to make chrome even harder to open. I usually don't have a problem after I get chrome to load completely unless it crashes later on. I've tried uninstalling chrome and then re-installing it but it still didn't work very well. I also have internet explorer which actually works a lot better than chrome does and I thought about uninstalling explorer but I guess it came with the computer so I can't uninstall it. I also have firefox(which I can't uninstall either)and seamonkey(which works pretty well, except when it comes to youtube, so I don't want to uninstall that anyway.) I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be? I'm also thinking it could be a virus but if it is, it's only affecting chrome, and not any other browser/program on my computer. My computer did have a virus sometime last year but my dad took it in to some place(I forget where) and got it fixed. But the problem didn't show up until recently...any ideas? Thanks!
