Default Logitech webcam settings greyed out, can't Uninstall either.

I recently installed my webcam/drivers onto a laptop I'm only borrowing, it's quite old, and it's Windows XP. When I open the Quickcam, and go into the settings, I can't change anything, it's all greyed out.

I did try an uninstall, both through running the driver disk(Modify, Repair, Remove), and Add or Remove Programs via Control Panel. But both times it chucks me an error when "stopping services".

Error 1921.Service LVCOMSer (LVCOMSer) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.
[Retry] [Cancel]

I click Retry, and it goes for a bit, but keeps popping up with the same Error, until I end up cancelling . I have also tried the Modify and Repair options.

I had previously installed the webcam/software on this same laptop, but I had to reinstall XP due to an issue with the hard drive. It worked totally fine beforehand, so I'm quite stumped.
