monitor for general computing and console gaming

Hi,

I was just wondering what you guys thought for a monitor, I'm planning to buy a chromebox since all I do really is surf, write simple documents and watch youtube. Going to replace my 9 year old dell desktop. Anyways apart from that I use consoles for gaming so I was just wondering what monitor would best suit my needs (I'm a pretty hardcore player, I'll even move my console to my old CRT to have no input lag when my LCD screws me over lol).

I've been looking at either the Asus MX279H or BenQ RL2455HM. Does anyone have any better suggestions or possibly a little more insight as to whcih between those two I should get.

Here's a pros and cons list I've drawn up for each thus far:

First I will only be console gaming so both monitors cap at 1080p and both are 60hz which is also the console cap. So that's perfect.

Now,

Asus
Pros:
-Larger Screen
-IPS panel for better color reproduction
-9ms input lag according to input lag database
-Slim bezel and great design
-Decent built in speakers

Cons:
-5ms response time
-$140 more expensive

BenQ
Pros:
-Specified for gaming
-1ms response time
-10ms input lag (1ms difference isn't the end of the world, since it will still be better than my 100+ms lag from my lcd tv)
-$140 cheaper
-Actually slimmer dimensions

Cons:
-Less accurate color reproduction
-speakers not as great

Is the difference between 1ms response vs 5ms noticeable, because if not I'd prefer better picture. Any other thoughts?

Get the BenQ and save yourself some money. There's always settings within the monitors settings that can change color depiction.
