Default the neat data folder for my neat desk scanner is 9gb, remove any of the files within this folder

In the folder I have:
ImageDB1.nwdb
ImageDB2.nwdb
ImageDB3.nwdb
ImageDB4.nwdb
ImageDB5.nwdb
ImageDB6.nwdb
ImageDB7.nwdb
ImageDB8.nwdb
ImageDB9.nwdb
ImageDB10.nwdb

They are all 1GB each. 'Last Modified' date are all Friday when I last accessed the software.

Why are there 10 of these *.nwdb files instead of just one? Do they all make up my database? Is a new one created everytime I update the software, therefore the older ones contain the same information?

I would like to delete them, but I am afraid of losing my database. Any advice is much appreciated.
