Default How to convince my parents that I need a new computer?

I have a toshiba computer and have had it for like 3 1/2 years. It keeps loosing Internet for no reason. It is slow when opening programs and lets not forget the battery life!!! It will have a fully charged battery in the morning then a few hours later it will say "16mins left of battery life renaming". I'm sick of it. My birthday is in september and I will be turning 16 then. My friend has a MacBook air and I looked those up and my parents would never pay that much for a new computer. They say the one I have now works fine. No it doesn't. I was looking and saw a dell mini notebook and thought that would work but when I trying asking of Rey would hear me out the ly just said no the computer you have is fine just don't get on it so much. Which is hard to do with all this homework that involves powerpoints, Microsoft word, etc. Can anyone help me please? I need a new computer soon because I have to do some work online an if I fail then I'm gonna be asked why I'm failing and I won't be able to get my side of the argument in. So please help!

Tell them this exact argument, but remember, there's always some one getting by on technology much worse than yours.

the computer you have is fine no laptop battery lasts more than a couple of hours and you don't NEED a new one you WANT one so save up and get one but you will be disappointed they all slow down when you load programs on them, for word, excel access and powerpoint a 15 year old computer will do a good job, just how fast do you want the letters to appear on screen that would be the only difference

If your parents have another computer then ask them if they could use your computer for a week and you use theirs. They will realize how slow it really is and then you will have a better chance of getting a new computer.

Default How to convince my parents that I need a new computer?

I got my new gaming pc, one that supports battlefield 3 on ultra graphics by convincing:

Have a discussion with your parents, I got mine by saying I'll do my part too, like studying 3 hours a day which is quite a challenge and be obedient in exchange I'll get the computer.

If they don't agree. Go on with the next step

Get all information on the computer you want. For me, I researched on all the price and all the parts I would like to have in my computer ( It's tailor made so I get to choose the parts not buy one from a shop) Where you can buy it, get all the details so you don't stress your parents up like searching for one.

Show them the stuff you gather. Tell them like "I'm ready to go and do my part and if you agree, We'll buy it, I got all the stuff we need to know so we don't have to shop for it"

If all of these stuff don't work. I guess you will have to do it by force, Back up your hard drive into another one, all your data you need like school work, games etc. And give it a virus or something so it may corrupt your computer and kill it.

After it died. Proceed with step one again which is the discussion and show them the stuff again and add in extras, like "This is my only chance if I don't get a new computer, I won't be able to do my school work on the computer, I would fail and get D's in reports. My computer right now is spoiled its done."

Sounds like you need to go to filehippo.com Everything on that site is free. Download ccleaner and run it. This will remove your junk and temp files. It will free up space. Have you backed up your files? If so remove a lot of files you do not use. If you're a gamer this will cause your system to slow down

I tell people to make your system lean and mean. Less is much better than more. Check to see how much room you have on your hard drive. to do that go to my computer & right click on your hard drive. Then go to properties, if your hard drive is 75% or more you have too many files on your hard drive. After all of this you need to defrag your hard drive.
